| Back to top IBM Content Collector Outlook Extension Before you add the IBM Content Collector Outlook Extension to a client workstation, make sure that the required software is installed on that workstation:
One of the following operating systems |
One of the following versions of Microsoft Outlook |
Other requirements | - Windows Vista Business
- Windows Vista Enterprise
- Windows XP SP1 (or later)
| - Outlook 2007
- Outlook 2003
|
An Outlook logon profile containing the parameters for the connection to the Exchange server |
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (or later) |
Note: You can install the IBM Content Collector Outlook Extension irrespective of the language in
which Outlook is installed. Back to top Required version of IBM WebSphere Application Server
IBM Content Collector requires IBM WebSphere Application Server to run the configuration Web service and to perform search and restore operations. The required version of WebSphere Application Server depends on the database management system that you use to store the IBM Content Collector configuration database. IBM Content Collector comes with an embedded version of WebSphere Application Server, so normally, there is no need to check for compatible versions. However, if you decide not to use the embedded WebSphere Application Server, see the following table for the supported versions of WebSphere Application Server. | Repository type | Database management system of configuration database | Supported version of WebSphere Application Server | Notes | | IBM DB2 Content Manager 8.x | IBM DB2 | | | | Oracle | N/A | Not supported by IBM Content Collector | | Microsoft SQL Server | N/A | Not supported by IBM Content Collector | | IBM FileNet P8 4.x | IBM DB2 | | | | Oracle | | | | Microsoft SQL Server | | | Back to top Operating system and Exchange Server version for Outlook Web Access
To install the IBM Content Collector Outlook Web Access support feature on the Exchange server, the following requirements must be met: | Operating system for Exchange Server (required) | Exchange Server version (required) | Notes | | Windows Server 2003 SP1 | Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 FP1 (or later) | The Outlook Web Access interface of Exchange Server must be enabled. | | Windows 2008 SP1 | Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 FP1 (or later) | The Outlook Web Access interface of Exchange Server must be enabled. | Back to top Outlook Web Access IIS server
Apart from the Outlook Web Access support feature that is installed on the Exchange server, the Outlook Web Access support package consists of a Web service and an interface for .NET Active Server Pages (ASP.NET), which is installed on top of a Microsoft IIS Server. Together, these components make up what is called the Outlook Web Access IIS server. The following table lists the operating system and other requirements for the Outlook Web Access IIS server. A separate server machine for the Outlook Web Access IIS server is recommended. | Operating system for the Outlook Web Access IIS server (required) | Other software requirements | Windows Server 2003 SP1 | Microsoft IIS Server 5.5 (or later) | | .NET Framework 2.0 (or later) | Windows 2008 SP1 | Microsoft IIS Server 5.5 (or later) | | .NET Framework 2.0 (or later) | Notes: - Outlook Web Access is supported in Premium Mode only. IBM Content Collector does not support the Basic Mode.
- The Web Service Extension ASP.NET v2.0.50727 must be set to Allowed in the Internet Information Service (IIS) Manager.
Back to top Outlook Web Access client prerequisites
To be able to use the Outlook Web Access (OWA) functions, clients need the following software on their workstations: | Software prerequisites for OWA clients | | Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 (or later) | Restrictions: - Outlook Web Access is supported in Premium Mode only.
- IBM Content Collector OWA support does not work with the Outlook Web Access 2003 Basic Client.
- IBM Content Collector OWA support does not work with Outlook Web Access 2007 Light.
- IBM Content Collector OWA support does not work with Outlook Web Access 2007 if the option "Use the blind and low vision experience" is used. You can deselect this option under "Options -> General Settings -> Accessibility".
- IBM Content Collector only supports the standard authentication methods "Integrated Windows authentication" (NTLM) and "Basic authentication" for the directories that are used to access Microsoft Exchange Server. For Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, these are the directories Exchange and Exadmin. For Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, this is the EWS directory.
- IBM Content Collector OWA support does not work with forms-based authentication (FBA) for these directories.
- IBM Content Collector OWA support does not work if the standard authentication method "Digest authentication for Windows domain servers" or ".NET Passport authentication" is selected for these directories.
Back to top Text-search function
The text-search function (full-text search) requires the following software, depending on the repository that you use:
| Repository | Required Software | Notes | | IBM DB2 Content Manager 8.x | IBM Content Collector text-search user-exit | | IBM Net Search Extender. The required version depends on the version of DB2 that is used by DB2 Content Manager 8.x. - For DB2 8.2: Net Search Extender 8.2 with fix pack 14 for Windows or with Fix Pack 15 for AIX and Solaris
- For DB2 9.1: Net Search Extender 9.1 with fix pack 3
- For DB2 9.5: Net Search Extender 9.5
| Install IBM Net Search Extender on the DB2 Content Manager 8.x library server. | | IBM FileNet P8 4.x | Autonomy IDOL K2 (formerly known as Verity K2) | | Notes: - The text-search user-exit is only needed for DB2 Content Manager V8.x repositories. For IBM FileNet P8, it is not required.
- On Microsoft Windows, the text-search user-exit requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (x86).
- On Solaris, the text-search user exit for DB2 Content Manager V8.x requires the iconv package.
Back to top DB2 Content Manager operation system and fix packs, DB2 Information Integrator for Content, and Net Search Extender fix packs for the text-search user-exit The text-search user exit also requires IBM DB2 Information Integrator for Content, a Net Search Extender fix pack, and possibly an additional Net Search Extender e-fix. For details, see the following table.
 | Supported archive servers | Content Manager operating system and fix pack (required) | Information Integrator for Content | One of the following Net Search Extender fix packs | Additional Net Search Extender e-fixes (required) | Notes | | Δ | IBM DB2 Content Manager Enterprise Edition V8.3 (formerly called DB2 Content Manager for Multiplatforms) | AIX | FP7 | DB2 Information Integrator for Content V8.3 | AIX | 8.2 fix pack 15 for DB2 V8.2 | | | Install DB2 Information Integrator for Content on the IBM Content Collector Server machine.
