Abstract

In order to perform a graphical Installation Manager install of IBM Rational Quality Manager on AIX, certain prerequisites must be met for a successful install.

Before installing Rational Quality Manager on a system running the AIX operating system, please ensure the following prerequisites are met:

1. Verify that a Firefox or Mozilla browser is installed and can be found on the $PATH environment variable for the user performing the installation. The IBM Installation Manager launchpad.sh program must be able to find a supported browser. If a browser cannot be found, you will see an error from Installation Manager. 2. Verify the user installing Rational Quality Manager is using the bash shell. Only the bash shell will result in a successful install. Failing to use bash will result in an error from Installation Manager stating that an unsupported browser is being used. This message is incorrect; the issue is a failure to use bash as the shell. The bash shell can be found in AIX Toolbox for Linux  Applications: http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/power/software/aix/linux/index.html.
3. Installation from an X Windows session other than a graphical console login or a remote X Desktop Manager (XDMCP) session may result in an Installation Manager hang condition. Please install Rational Quality Manager from a full console or from an X Windows display server software supporting XDMCP sessions to the AIX system.
