Migration to WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Enterprise Bus 6.2 - Mandatory reading
|
| | | Abstract | | WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus version 6.2 provide major functional improvements over previous versions, and in order to take advantage of these new features while preserving your existing applications and profile configuration you must migrate to version 6.2 of the product. WebSphere Process Server 6.2 is not a refresh pack or an upgrade version. Version 6.2 must be installed alongside the older version of the product. To facilitate your migration process, WebSphere Process Server 6.2 provides improved version-to-version migration utilities to help you migrate your existing applications and profile configuration information. | | | | | | Content | The following information is provided in order to assist you in obtaining the best possible results from the migration process: - Version-to-version migration provides a migration "wizard" (graphical user interface) for a user driven migration as well as a set of scripts to automate your migration process. The detailed migration information to guide you through your migration planning including step-by-step migration scenarios and how to use the migration tools is provided in the 6.2 Information Center under the topic Migrating from previous versions of WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus
- When planning your migration to WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus version 6.2, the first step is to determine whether you want to preserve your existing configuration information from the previous version of the product or you want to re-create your configuration in the new version 6.2 environment from scratch. Reasons for using the migration tools to perform a version-to-version migration include:
- You want to avoid having to re-configure version 6.2 'from scratch'. - You have long running process instances you wish to move to version 6.2. If you do not need to use your existing configuration information from the previous version of the product or do not have any long running process instances, you can move to version 6.2 without using the migration tools. In this case, you can install the new version of the product then create and configure your new topology and deploy your existing applications to your new environment. You can also optionally import the source artifact (project interchange file) for your existing applications to WebSphere Integration Developer 6.2, make any code changes, and finally export your application and deploy it to WebSphere Process Server 6.2. - To provide you the latest migration information and updates for migration utilities, we are constantly posting new information at IBM support sites.
