Abstract
This page lists IBM Cognos products released prior to 2009. For products release in 2009 and later, please see the Information Management Product Support Lifecycle at http://www.ibm.com/software/data/support/lifecycle/ .


This page outlines the support status of all versions of Cognos software. Support status of Active or Inactive indicates what type of support services are available to supported customers for a particular software version – see details below. Cognos' policy is to provide fixes only for active versions of our software, therefore we highly encourage customers to upgrade to an active software version.

Please note that this page applies to both English and localized versions of Cognos products unless otherwise noted.

As a result of IBM Software Group’s recent acquisition of Cognos to accelerate IBM’s Information on Demand agenda, we have significantly expanded and strengthened our information management portfolio. Data integration and warehousing are enabling technologies for business intelligence and performance management. As such, IBM Cognos 8 Data Manager continues to be a component of the IBM Cognos offering, providing a solution that is built specifically to help customers shape their data for Business Intelligence and Performance Management solutions. (2) Support Status - Support Status indicates whether a particular software version is Active or Inactive. Supported customers can access resources and assistance as outlined below for the version they are using.
Support Status of Active indicates:
  • You can log cases and receive assistance from Cognos support centers for any issues you experience with the software.
  • Product updates will be made available through maintenance releases and/or product fixes. Individual product fixes are generally made available on the latest maintenance release only. Customers on earlier releases must upgrade to the latest maintenance release when accepting a product fix.
  • You can access all the resources and information on http://www.ibm.com/software/data/cognos/customercenter/ including product downloads, documentation and Supportlink magazine, as well as search for solutions to common issues in our Knowledge Base
Support Status of Inactive indicates:
  • Product updates, maintenance releases or product fixes will no longer be available for this version.
  • You can continue to log cases, however we highly encourage you to upgrade to the latest Active release of the product. At Cognos’ discretion and provided resources are available, we will endeavor to answer questions or provide workarounds to issues encountered with Inactive software versions.
  • You can still access all the resources and information on http://www.ibm.com/software/data/cognos/customercenter/ including product downloads (active versions), documentation and Supportlink magazine, as well as search for solutions to common issues in our Knowledge Base.
