For both issues, the data is backed up correctly. However, a problem can occur when you restore the data. If you upgrade to 5.5.4.2 before you restore the data, the data will be restored correctly. Issue 1. (Versions 5.5.1.0, 5.5.2.0, 5.5.3.0, and 5.5.3.1)
A data integrity issue can occur when restoring data with Instant Restore running in Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack Versions 5.5.1.0, 5.5.2.0, 5.5.3.0, and 5.5.3.1.
No customers have reported this problem; there is no APAR open for this problem. The problem was found during ongoing testing. Upgrading to 5.5.4.2 fixes the problem. After you install 5.5.4.2, you can use Instant Restore to correctly restore data. Issue 2. (Versions 5.5.4.0 and 5.5.4.1)
If the cleanup process moves a job from one repository to another repository, an error can occur for the disaster recovery process that runs on a snapshot chain. (A snapshot chain is a full snapshot and the corresponding incremental snapshots of the same volume and policy combination.)
If this problem occurs with Version 5.5.4.0, the following message is displayed: FBSS7545E: Disaster Recovery (DR) on Policy: 'Policy-Name' Volume: 'X' on 'Server-Name' failed.
If this problem occurs with Version 5.5.4.1, no message is displayed.
APAR IC62016 is open for this problem. Upgrading to 5.5.4.2 fixes the problem. Problem Detail: Issue 1. (no APAR)
With Instant Restore running in Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack Versions 5.5.1.0, 5.5.2.0, 5.5.3.0, and 5.5.3.1, in very rare circumstances, data could be written to the wrong disk block.
This flash is intended to notify the customer of a potential problem. A fix has been identified and is available: This error is resolved in Version 5.5.4.2 or later. Issue 2 (APAR IC62016)
A FastBack repository can include up to 20 repository objects. (The repository is a disk area used by FastBack Server to store client snapshots. The repository can be a folder, a volume, a physical disk, or a SAN or NAS drive.)
If this problem occurs with Version 5.5.4.0, the following message is displayed: FBSS7545E: Disaster Recovery (DR) on Policy: 'Policy-Name' Volume: 'X' on 'Server-Name' failed.
If this problem occurs with Version 5.5.4.1, no message is displayed.
Although the affected data has been replicated to the disaster recovery location, the replicated snapshot data is incorrect and should not be used. If you upgrade the Disaster Recovery Server to 5.5.4.2 before you restore the data, then run disaster recovery, the replicated data can be used.
This problem can occur for any snapshot chain that is included in disaster recovery replication. Who is affected: Issue 1. (no APAR)
Anyone who has used Instant Restore to recover data with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack, Version 5.5.1.0, 5.5.2.0, 5.5.3.0, and 5.5.3.1. Issue 2 (APAR IC62016)
Anyone who has installed IBM Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack and uses the Disaster Recovery Server, Version 5.5.4.0 or 5.5.4.1 Recommendation: Issue 1 and Issue 2
Download and install Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack, Interim Fix Pack 5.5.4.2. To download Interim Fix Pack 5.5.4.2, complete the following steps:
1. Go to the IBM Support Fix Central Web site at http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral.
2. For Product Group, select Tivoli. Click Continue.
3. For Product, select IBM Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack. Click Continue.
4. For Installed Version, select 5.5.4.0. Click Continue.
5. For Platform, select Windows. Click Continue.
6. Sign in using your IBM ID and password.
7. On the Identify Fixes window, select Browse fixes.
8. From the list of fixes, select All. Click Continue.
9. Select the interim fix labeled 5.5.4.2. Click Continue.
10. Select a location to save the code package. Write the location where you save the code package.
Administrator privileges are required in order to install the interim fix.
For Issue 1, you must upgrade the FastBack Server and FastBack Client to version 5.5.4.2.
For Issue 2, you must upgrade the FastBack Server and FastBack Disaster Recovery Server to version 5.5.4.2 before you can restore the data.
