|
| | | Abstract | | This technote covers release-specific Host Configuration information (such as problems and limitations) for IBM® Rational® Developer for System z™ v7.5 that did not become available until after the product documentation and product readme were finalized. | | | | | | Content | In this technote, you can find additional information on the following topics:
The following annotations must be made to the host configuration documentation. Abbreviated names are used for these publications for easy reference. Use the following table to match an abbreviated name to a publication: | Publication title | Order number | Abbreviation | | Program Directory for IBM Rational Developer for System z | GI11-8298 | Program Directory | | Rational Developer for System z Prerequisites | SC23-7659 | Prerequisite Guide | | Rational Developer for System z Host Planning Guide | GI11-8296 | Host Planning Guide | | Rational Developer for System z Host Configuration Quick Start | GI11-9201 | Host Configuration Quick Start | | Rational Developer for System z Host Configuration Guide | SC23-7658 | Host Configuration Guide | | RDz_v7.5_host_readme.html | | Host Readme | File sizes The byte count shown in the sample FTP output in “Upload the compressed RELFILES and SMPMCS from the CD-ROM” on page 23 of the Program Directory should be changed to match the values listed in the table below. | File | FTP byte count | | IBM.HHOP750.F1.BIN | 140400 bytes | | IBM.HHOP750.F2.BIN | 2227920 bytes | | IBM.HHOP750.F3.BIN | 19751840 bytes | | IBM.HHOP750.F4.BIN | 6323840 bytes | | IBM.HHOP750.F5.BIN | 183680 bytes | | IBM.HHOP750.F6.BIN | 157040 bytes | | IBM.HHOP750.F7.BIN | 570080 bytes | | IBM.HHOP750.SMPMCS | 43520 bytes | ISPF prerequisite The following table updates the prerequisite table for ISPF with the PTF numbers for requisite ISPF APARs. The original table is listed on page 1 of the Host Readme, on page 5 of the Prerequisite Guide, on page 9 of the Host Planning Guide and on page 10 of the Program Directory. | Program Number | Product Name | PTFs or Service Levels Required | | 5694-A01 | ISPF (z/OS v 1.10) | APAR OA24881 (enhance TSO/ISPF Client Gateway support) PTF UA43753 | | 5694-A01 | ISPF (z/OS v 1.9) | APAR OA24403 (add TSO/ISPF Client Gateway support) PTF UA41312 APAR OA24882 (enhance TSO/ISPF Client Gateway support) PTF UA43752 | | 5694-A01 | ISPF (z/OS v 1.8) | APAR OA20345 (nested command output and enhance BUILD) PTF UA33575 APAR OA20449 (add NESTMACS support) PTF UA34052 APAR OA24403 (add TSO/ISPF Client Gateway support) PTF UA41311 APAR OA24882 (enhance TSO/ISPF Client Gateway support) PTF UA43751 | New rsed.envvars directives Two new sample directives have been added to rsed.envvars, the RSE configuration file. These variables help you tune the load balancing of the RSE thread pools, in conjunction with other variables like minimum.threadpool.process and maximum.threadpool.process. The following descriptions should be added to “Defining extra Java startup parameters with _RSE_*OPTS” on page 25 of the Host Configuration Guide. #_RSE_JAVAOPTS=”$_RSE_JAVAOPTS -Dmaximum.clients=60” Maximum amount of clients serviced by one thread pool. The default is 60. Uncomment and customize to limit the number of clients per thread pool. Note that other limits may prevent you from reaching this limit. #_RSE_JAVAOPTS=”$_RSE_JAVAOPTS -Dmaximum.threads=1000” Maximum amount of threads serviced by one thread pool. The default is 1000. Uncomment and customize to limit the number of threads per thread pool. Note that each client connection uses multiple threads and that other limits may prevent you from reaching this limit. PassTicket setup in your security product The “Define PassTicket support for RSE server” section on page 114 of the Host Configuration Guide and on page 24 of the Host Configuration Quick Start should include the following note. Note: If the PTKTDATA class is already active in your security product, ensure that it is defined as a generic class. Up until the introduction of a Java interface to the PassTicket support in z/OS 1.7, this class did not support generic characters. | | | | | | | | |
