New rsed.envvars directives

Two new sample directives have been added to rsed.envvars, the RSE configuration file. These variables help you tune the load balancing of the RSE thread pools, in conjunction with other variables like minimum.threadpool.process and maximum.threadpool.process.

The following descriptions should be added to “Defining extra Java startup parameters with _RSE_*OPTS” on page 25 of the Host Configuration Guide.

    #_RSE_JAVAOPTS=”$_RSE_JAVAOPTS -Dmaximum.clients=60”
Maximum amount of clients serviced by one thread pool. The default is 60. Uncomment and customize to limit the number of clients per thread pool. Note that other limits may prevent you from reaching this limit.

    #_RSE_JAVAOPTS=”$_RSE_JAVAOPTS -Dmaximum.threads=1000”
Maximum amount of threads serviced by one thread pool. The default is 1000. Uncomment and customize to limit the number of threads per thread pool. Note that each client connection uses multiple threads and that other limits may prevent you from reaching this limit.

PassTicket setup in your security product

The “Define PassTicket support for RSE server” section on page 114 of the Host Configuration Guide and on page 24 of the Host Configuration Quick Start should include the following note.

Note: If the PTKTDATA class is already active in your security product, ensure that it is defined as a generic class. Up until the introduction of a Java interface to the PassTicket support in z/OS 1.7, this class did not support generic characters.
