IBM Support

JBoss: IBM FileNet ISRA Sample does not allow a connection using hostname

Troubleshooting

Problem

Image Services Resource Adapter (ISRA) Sample allows use of "localhost" but not .

Symptom

On a local server (hostname = w2k3isra) where JBoss and ISRA/ISRA Sample are deployed, the User is able to access the ISRA Sample using localhost such as:

http://localhost:8080/ISRA

However when trying to connect using <hostname> such as:

http://w2k3isra:8080/ISRA

the behavior is that the URL was unreachable or the Web server was unavailable. The following is the behavior observed when using Internet Explorer (IE) 8 on the host w2k3isra:

- The error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" is displayed.
- When the "More information" link is clicked, "res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.htm#" is displayed on the IE Address entry field.

Cause

This is a JBoss 4.2.0+ GA default behavior and is not related to the configuration of the ISRA/ISRA Sample. For security reasons, by default, JBoss only allows local access. This is a frequently asked question documented on the JBoss community Web site.

Environment

JBoss 5.0.0 GA

Resolving The Problem

Start JBoss with the '-b' option (consult JBoss related resources for more information). For example, on a Windows platform:

run.bat -b 0.0.0.0

WARNING: Be aware that this may expose a security risk by allowing external access. Please consult JBoss related resources for more information
