What is new with version 8.0.0.2

The following items are included in this version:
  • Technical previewing of automatic versioning: You can now configure automatic versioning support on the Lotus Quickr server. This allows the user to display all versions of a document and to revert to older versions. Versioning can only be used for documents in the Library folder or any other simple list folder. For more information, refer to this technote (reference # 1284192).
  • In addition to using the Upload function to bring document files into a library, you can now enable drag and drop of a document to upload it. For more information, refer to this technote (reference # 1282310).
  • Performance while downloading documents from Lotus Quickr has been improved by implementing direct download instead of using the plugin for downloading. To download a document, or an attachment to a document, click the download icon, to the right of the document name in the folder or library listing. For more information, refer to this technote (reference # 1272476).

The complete list of fixes integrated into version 8.0.0.2 is found in the "Fix List" tab of this document.

About version 8.0.0.2

The Lotus Quickr version 8.0.0.2, services for Domino, package is a full installation package for all platforms. After installing Lotus Quickr 8.0.0.2, you must apply hotfix HF1 or higher for Lotus Quickr 8.0.0.2, which is available on Fix Central. To learn more about how to download version 8.0.0.2, refer to the "Download" tab of this document.

English language customers:
  • New Lotus Quickr customers who plan to use the English language version of the software should install version 8.0.0.2. You do not need to install version 8.0 prior to installing version 8.0.0.2 for the first time.
  • Customers currently running the English language version of IBM Lotus QuickPlace® version 7.0 or an earlier release should upgrade to Lotus Quickr version 8.0.0.2. You do not need to install version 8.0 prior to installing version 8.0.0.2
  • Customers currently running the English language version of Lotus Quickr version 8.0 should upgrade to Lotus Quickr version 8.0.0.2.
  • The steps for upgrading to version 8.0.0.2 correspond to those for upgrading to Lotus Quickr version 8.0, except as noted in the Steps for upgrading to version 8.0.0.2 section of this readme.

Non-English customers:
  • Customers who plan to install one of the Lotus Quickr version 8.0 language packs should not install Lotus Quickr version 8.0.0.2. The version 8.0 language packs are not compatible with version 8.0.0.2.
  • For more information, see the "Download" tab of this document.

For i5/OS® customers:
  • The DSPSFWRSC (Display Software Resource) command displays the same release level (V8R0M0) for both Lotus Quickr version 8.0 and Lotus Quickr version 8.0.0.2. To determine whether version 8.0.0.2 has been installed, check the /qibm/proddata/lotus/quickplace/ directory for a file called QKR8002. This file only exists if version 8.0.0.2 has been installed.

Space requirements

Space requirements vary depending on what you are installing. After unpacking the ZIP file you download, delete the ZIP file to free space. Space is also required for backup files in the quickr_server_root/version/backup directory and your system temp directory. The space required is about the same as the size of the version 8.0.0.2 package, which varies by product and platform.

Verify that the free space is available before beginning the installation. For more information on the size of each download, refer to the "Download" tab of this document.

Steps for upgrading to version 8.0.0.2

Some changes to the steps documented in the current Lotus Quickr version 8.0 information center for upgrading from Lotus QuickPlace version 6.5.1/7.0 to Lotus Quickr version 8.0 are required in order to upgrade to Lotus Quickr version 8.0.0.2. If you are using Lotus QuickPlace or Lotus Quickr version 8.0, please observe the following important differences in the installation process when upgrading to Lotus Quickr version 8.0.0.2 after you download the version 8.0.0.2 package:

(1) After installing Lotus Quickr 8.0.0.2, you must apply hotfix HF1 or higher for Lotus Quickr 8.0.0.2, which is available on Fix Central prior to running the qptool commands shown in the following steps.

(2) In the section
Administrator's Guide for Lotus Quickr -> Services for Lotus Domino -> Installing -> Installing Services for Lotus Domino ->Upgrading to Lotus Quickr 8 -> Upgrading the design of databases on the server

After the first paragraph, add the following:
Note: For upgrading a server to version 8.0.0.2, you must perform this step beforeyou upgrade all places and PlaceTypes. Use the following command: load qptool upgrade -f -server

(3) In the section
Administrator's Guide for Lotus Quickr -> Services for Lotus Domino -> Installing -> Installing Services for Lotus Domino -> Upgrading to Lotus Quickr 8 -> Upgrading places and PlaceTypes

Add the following:
Note: For upgrading a server to version 8.0.0.2, even if the previous version was 8.0, you must force the upgrade of all places and PlaceTypes on the server. Otherwise the connectors will not show any documents and versioning will fail on existing places. Additionally, the Lock Icon display does not function correctly without the forced upgrade of all places.

(4) In the section
Administrator's Guide for Lotus Quickr -> Services for Lotus Domino -> Installing -> Installing Services for Lotus Domino -> Upgrading to Lotus Quickr 8 -> Upgrading places and PlaceTypes -> Upgrading all places and PlaceTypes at once
After the first paragraph, insert the following paragraph:

To unlock any places that may have become locked, enter the following command from the Domino server console:
load qptool unlock -a

Modify the next paragraph to read:

To upgrade all places and PlaceTypes at once, enter the following command from the Domino server console:
load qptool upgrade -f -a

(5) In the section
Administrator's Guide for Lotus Quickr -> Services for Lotus Domino -> Installing -> Installing Services for Lotus Domino -> Upgrading to Lotus Quickr 8 -> Unregistering and re-registering places with the Place Catalog

After the first paragraph, insert the following:

Note: This step is not required. This step should not be performed when upgrading to Lotus Quickr version 8.0.0.2.

Known issues
When upgrading an i5/OS Lotus QuickPlace version 7 server running on Lotus Domino version 7.0.3 to Lotus Quickr version 8.0.0.2, a serious error displays, and it appears that the upgrade may have failed. This error occurs because the "Lotus Quickr 8.0.0.2 i5/OS enabling fix for Domino 7.0.3" has not yet been installed. Install the enabling fix and start the server. For more information, refer to this technote (reference # 1285995).
