IBM Support

As of version 1.1.5.2 of IBM FileNet Integration for Microsoft Office, limited support is provided for 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010

Product Documentation

Abstract

Support for Microsoft Office 2010 is provided in FileNet Integration for Microsoft Office (FIMO) 1.1.5.2, but only for features that were supported for earlier versions.

Content

FIMO supports Microsoft Office 2007. Microsoft subsequently released Microsoft Office 2010. FIMO 1.1.5.2 was qualified for existing functions of FIMO 1.1.5 for use with Microsoft Office 2010.

In this release, FIMO does not exploit any new features of Microsoft Office 2010, including the ribbon bar, which is new to Microsoft Outlook 2010.

Support for using FIMO with Microsoft Office 2010 is currently limited to the 32-bit version. The 64-bit version is not supported.

Prerequisite
When you install FIMO 1.1.5.2 with Microsoft Office 2010 on any desktop client, you must have the Microsoft Office 2010 Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA) and .NET software already installed.

The .NET software is preinstalled with Microsoft Vista and Microsoft Windows 7, but not with Microsoft Windows XP. If either .NET or PIA is not present, download and install PIA from the Microsoft website.

You must install .NET before you install the PIA. PIA loads the FIMO add-in to the Microsoft Office 2010 ribbon bar. If you do not have PIA installed, you cannot load the FIMO add-in within Microsoft Office 2010.

You will know PIA is installed, if you find the following files in C:\WINDOWS\assembly:
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook
Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint

Ensure that the version number for each of these files is correct for Microsoft Office 2010 (version 14.x.x.x).

PIA can also be installed by Microsoft Office 2010. If .NET 2.0 or above is present on the desktop, then Office 2010 installation will include PIA by default. For details, refer to the article "How to: Install Office Primary Interop Assemblies" on the Microsoft MSDN website.

Known issues when using Microsoft Office 2010 Outlook with FIMO

  • In Microsoft Outlook, the Integration menu has moved from the main menu location at the top of the window to the Add-ins menu on the ribbon bar.
  • In Microsoft Outlook, the following context menu option is missing: Add attachment to IBM ECM. You can use the following workarounds instead to add attachments to the IBM ECM repository:
    • Open the e-mail, click the attachment, and drag it to the Browse pane in FIMO.
    • Save the attachment locally and add it with Workplace XT.
