Direct Print with Duplex Printing is slower than Direct Print without Duplex

Troubleshooting

Problem

Maximo users enable duplex printing, so that printers will print Work Orders on both sides of the paper, yet not printing 2 Work Orders on the same physical piece of paper. You have noticed that Direct Print using Duplex Printing is noticeably slower than running Direct Print on the same records without duplex printing.

Cause

When you use Direct Print, Maximo will create a report for the record set, convert that report to pdf and then route that pdf to the default printer. With Duplex printing the same happens, but only for 1 record at a time. For example, in the time you could Direct Print 6 Work Orders, only 1 may be printed under Duplex Printing.
