Compliance of Configuration Assets

Question & Answer

Question

Are there steps required to confirm the compliance of a configuration asset?

Answer

Configuration-managed assets in Maximo are expected to have a designated configuration that similar assets should be in compliance with. In Maximo Asset Configuration Manager, the BDI, or Build Data Interpreter, is used to confirm this compliance. The BDI checks a given asset's configuration, position by position, to ensure that it is in compliance with the designated configuration for similar type assets. The following steps can be taken to use the BDI:
1. Go to the Assets (CM) application.
2. Query for a given configuration managed asset.
3. Click on the View tab.
4. Highlight a given position in the configuration hierarchy for the asset.
5. From the Select Action menu, choose "BDI Status". The result will be that the current status of the asset configuration will be displayed.
