Deprecated Features in Fix Pack 2

Cut,Copy and Paste buttons are no longer available when accessing the
Impact UI in Firefox.

Known Issues in Fix Pack 2
SSL communication between GUI and backend Impact servers (Internal APAR IV69904)

If communication between GUI and backend Impact servers is configured to be secure (as in via
running IMPACT_HOME/install/security/configImpactSSL.sh) an issue can occur where the
backend server opens too many sockets, causing the backend server to stop running.
The problem is more likely to occur in the following scenarios:
1. large numbers of artifacts (services, data sources, and data types)
2. multiple browsers connecting at the same time
3. configuring services to auto-refresh in the GUI preferences

Running Policy Syntax Checker causes the Policy Editor to grey out and become unresponsive

If the policy syntax check reports a policy error, in some circumstances selecting this error from
the syntax check dialog may unexpectedly close the dialog leaving behind a disabled/greyed out policy
user interface.
To restore access to the policy user interface, click once anywhere within the greyed out area
and hit the escape key.

Services tabs not releasing memory in IE10 and 11

There is an issue where service tabs opened in the main services UI in IE10 and IE11 don't release the memory used
by the tab. Each open tab takes in the region of 20-30MB, closing the tab only releases about 10MB. If the user is editing
a number of services which causes IE to use up enough of the client machine's physical memory, some performance problems
will be noticed.
To workaround this issue, user needs to refresh the browser window to free up memory used by closed tabs. Logging out and
logging in again has a similar effect.

Installation Instructions

3.0 Installation information

3.1 Dependencies

This Fix Pack is applied to

IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact version 7.1 Server and GUI Server

IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact version 7.1 Extensions for Netcool Operations Insight (NOI), Server and GUI Server

IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact version 7.1.0.1 Server and GUI Server

IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact version 7.1.0.1 Extensions for Netcool Operations Insight (NOI), Server and GUI Server

3.2 Before you beging applying the Fix Pack

1. Backing up Directories

1. To apply this Fix Pack you will need 1000 MB of free disk space
Check Instructions mentioned here:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSSHYH_7.1.0.2/com.ibm.netcoolimpact.doc_7.1.0.2/admin/imag_upgrade_back_up_directories_t.html

2. Backup the entire Impact directory.

This Fix Pack does not backup the entire Impact application. It only makes a backup of Impact configuration files.
A backup copy of Impact configuration files is located at [ImpactInstallDirectory]\backup\install

3.3 Extracting Fix Pack files

3.3.1 Extracting on Linux, Solaris, AIX , Windows and zLinux platforms
   1. Copy the 7.1.0-TIV-NCI-<ARCH>-FP0002.zip file to your system.
   2. Create a directory Impact_FP2 for example.
   3. Unzip the file 7.1.0-TIV-NCI-<ARCH>-FP0002.zip to directory Impact_FP2.

3.3.2 Fix pack directories

When you extract the Fix Pack file, the following files and directories are created

ImpactExtRepository (Contains Impact Extensions for NOI, Server and GUI Server updates)
ImpactRepository (Contains Impact Server and GUI Server updates)
response files (Contains response files for silent update)
scripts files (Contains installer update files)

3.3.3 Installing Fix Pack in GUI and Console Mode

Check Instructions Here:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSSHYH_7.1.0.2/com.ibm.netcoolimpact.doc_7.1.0.2/admin/imag_upgrade_gui_and_console_t.html

3.3.4 Installing Fix Pack in Silent Mode

Check Instructions Here:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSSHYH_7.1.0.2/com.ibm.netcoolimpact.doc_7.1.0.2/admin/imag_upgrade_silent_mode_t.html

3.4 Installation in a Cluster Environment

Stop all Impact servers in a cluster environment before and after each update.

Example: A two server cluster would be updated as follows:
        1) Stop all servers in the cluster
        2) Update the primary
        3) Stop the primary
        4) Update the secondary
        5) Stop the secondary
        6) Start the primary
        7) Start the secondary

3.5 Post Fix Pack Considerations

The Browser cookies and cache should be cleaned up before launching the UI.  If you are using IE and have
the Impact URL saved to your Favorites, then you must ensure that the "Preserve Favorites website data"
is not enabled.

3.6 Rollback to previous version

You can remove the Fix Pack by rollback to previous version.
This rollback process is different from uninstalling which removes Impact product entirely.

Follow this procedure to remove the Fix Pack:

    1. Open a windows command line prompt and change to directory
        <installDir>/install/rollback

    2. Run

        GUI Mode

            Windows:  rollback_gui.bat

            Unix: ./rollback_gui.sh

        Console Mode

            Windows: rollback_console.bat

            Unix: rollback_console.sh

Note: if the script does not find the Installation Manager on the machine, you can pass
the Installation Manager directory to the script. For examples:

            Windows:
                Example 1:  rollback_gui.bat c:\MyInstallationManager\eclipse
                Example 2:  rollback_console.bat c:\MyInstallationManager\eclipse

            Unix:
                Example 1:  rollback_gui.sh /opt/MyInstallationManager/eclipse
                Example 2:  rollback_console.sh /opt/MyInstallationManager/eclipse

    3. Select Rollback from the Installation Manager main page

    4. After the Installation Manager rollback complete, run the following script to restore
       Impact configuration files :

            Windows:  restore_from_backup.bat

            Unix: ./restore_from_backup.sh

    5. Restart Impact Server and GUI Server.

    6. Launch the web browser and clear the browser cache and cookies. If you are using IE and have
the Impact URL saved to your Favorites, then you must ensure that the "Preserve Favorites
       website data" is not enabled.

3.7 Recovering from a failed Fix Pack installation

Check instructions here:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSSHYH_7.1.0.2/com.ibm.netcoolimpact.doc_7.1.0.2/admin/imag_restore_ni_backup_directories.html
