Question

Why do attempts to log into the Reporter Server as the admin user, via the browser fail, generating an error message saying 'Invalid username or password.'?

Answer

It is possible for the table holding these details in the database repository to have become corrupted.

To reset the administrator's password, log into the database directly, as the repository user, and issue the following command:


    update rpuser set rppasswd = null where name = 'administrator';

This resets the password to a blank space, after which log into Reporter as the administrator user and no password. From there the other passwords can be reset via the UserAdmin applet.
