Question
This page provides detailed hardware and software requirements for IBM® OmniFind™ Discovery Edition V8.4.1.

This page describes the minimum product levels to install before opening a problem report with the OmniFind Discovery Edition support team. Because other products frequently ship fixes, updates, and new releases, we cannot test every possible configuration. In general, you can install and run with updates, such as fix packs, to supported product releases (not necessarily significant new product versions), if those updates are forward compatible.

Operating system (server)

The following table specifies the operating system for any computer on which you install the OmniFind Discovery Edition server component. For Linux® platorms, ensure that the libstdc++.so.5 library is installed. For Solaris platorms, ensure that the libstlport.so.1 library is installed.

Disk space

To run the installation wizard on Windows, you must have at least 600 MB of free space on the drive containing the Windows temporary directory.

Disk space (Ad Hoc Reporting Module)

MicroStrategy requires 42 MB after installation. Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) requires 23 MB after installation. In addition, ensure that sufficient free disk space is available for storing project data. For more information, see Considerations When Choosing Database Hardware.

Reporting database

The following table specifies the reporting database that is required for the Ad Hoc Reporting Module. The database can be installed on any operating system that supports the database. Refer to the MicroStrategy documentation for recommended database version numbers.

If you use an Oracle database, ensure that the Oracle server, the Oracle client on the OmniFind Discovery Edition computer, and the Oracle Client on the MicroStrategy computer are the same version.
