How much free disk space is needed for OmniFind Discovery Edition

 Technote (FAQ)

Question
How much free disk space is needed for an admin tool or build tool process to finish successfully on OmniFind™ Discovery Edition?

Answer
The ADMIN_MAX_DEPLOYMENT_DIRS property variable specifies the maximum number of timestamped directories that can exist. By default, this property variable is set to 5. However, the admin tool copies an additional .snapshot directory to the query servers during each admin process. After the admin tool completes, you will see both a .snapshot and a timestamped directory on the query servers. Therefore, the number of directories that are actually created during each admin process is two times the value that is specified for the ADMIN_MAX_DEPLOYMENT_DIRS property variable. If this property variable is set to the default value of 5, then 10 directories are created during each admin process.

Therefore, you need to have at least 10 times the size of a single project directory available on the servers. This requirement is less if you change the setting for ADMIN_MAX_DEPLOYMENT_DIRS to a lower number.

Without this minimum amount of disk space, various problems can occur during the admin process. However, the errors that are returned do not always directly point to a lack of disk space.
