| ISA Lite for PurifyPlus Windows v7.0 is a customized subset of the IBM Support Assistant Workbench that provides automated data collection capability specific for PurifyPlus Windows V7.0. If you do not have IBM Support Assistant Workbench installed and need to provide information for our support team, you can use this to quickly gather information using ISA Lite for PurifyPlus.
This is currently available only for Microsoft Windows platforms.
ISA Lite for PurifyPlus Windows v7.0 will collect the following information from your system :
- Collects collector tool execution & system inventory information.
- Collects problem description (user input)
- Optionally collects the instrumented program.
- Collects any files (in a folder) that the user chooses to provide.
- Collects system information.
- Windows commands executed: systemInfo, mem, tasklist /v , sc query , set
- Registry information : HKEY_CURRENT_USER , and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
- If this is not an installation issue and PurifyPlus is found on the system:
- Collects PurifyPlus version information.
- Collects PurifyPlus filters and default .ini settings.
- Calculates the cache location based on the instrumented program specified. It then collects cache information as a result of executing emode.exe against the cache directory.
- Collects the instrumented program's .ini and .log files.
- If the application is "A Java app" it will optionally run "PurifyMD -locate -diagnose -log".
At the end of data collection, you'll have an option to send the data directly to IBM, or to a different location. This is optional. To check what has been collected, extract the .zip file that is created when the collector completes.
Prerequisites - You need an IBM ID and password to download ISA Lite. Register here if you do not already have one.
- You need Java JRE 1.4.2 or greater on your machine to run ISA Lite
Downloading and Launching ISA Lite - Download ISA Lite for PurifyPlus Windows v7.0 from: https://www.ibm.com/services/forms/preLogin.do?source=swg-isalite&S_PKG=wasppwin
- Extract the .zip file in a folder.
- In the same folder, cd ISALite
- If Java is available in your path , simply run: runISALite.bat
- If Java is not available on your path, you'll need to set JAVA_HOME first:
- set JAVA_HOME=<your full path to Java> This path should point to the bin directory in your Java installation, containing java.exe.
- Once this is completed, run: runISALite.bat
Using ISA Lite - Select Rational PurifyPlus General Problem - Windows.
- Fill in the Output Filename field.
- Click the Collect Data button to start data collection.
- When finished, simply close the window.
Detailed Walk Thru for "Rational PurifyPlus General Problem - Windows" The collector will first inform you what it is going to collect. Click OK, to proceed .
Problem Description Panels
Here you can describe the problem and share information about how you are running PurifyPlus. There are 3 panels used to collect information and a fourth panel that allows you to verify your input. A validation is run for each panel to ensure the option selected is valid, or that the file or folder specified exists. Panel 1: General Problem Description
Select the appropriate values that match your problem. If you specify "Other", please use the "Describe the error details" text area to fill in additional details. Click OK to continue.  (click to view enlarged image) Panel 2: Instrumented Program
Select the application that is problematic with PurifyPlus and provide the associated PurifyPlus output file. Both of these are required. This value is used to calculate the cache directory. Click OK to continue.  Panel 3: Optional files
This is optional. If you have additional files that you would like to provide for the support team, place them in a folder and specify that folder in this panel. Click OK to continue.  (click to view enlarged image)
Verify Input:
Ensure that all input provided is correct.
- If all inputs is correct, click Correct to run the data collection.
- If not, select Not Correct and the collector will go back to Panel 1 (with values pre-populated).
If "A Java app" is specified
If you specified "A Java app" in the problem description panel, you can optionally provide PurifyPlusMD output for the Rational support engineers. The command "PurifyMD -locate -diagnose -log" can be run for you by this collector. Keep in mind that this may take some time depending on the size of your disk. - Click OK to run PurifyMD
- Click Skip to skip PurifyMD

Data Collector Completion Options & Uploads When the collector is completed, it will request feedback about ISA. Select Yes, to provide feedback. Select No to continue.
You'll also be provided with data upload options. This will allow you to send the collected data to IBM or another location via FTP or HTTPS.
IMPORTANT: To upload information to IBM, you'll need to have a PMR number. This is obtained when you work with our support team. If you do not have a PMR number, but do have support contract, you can leverage the Software Support page to open a service request and included the collected data with the service request.
The upload options are:
- Send the Logs to IBM using secure transfer (HTTPS). You'll need an PMR number to transfer the data to IBM. This sends the collected data to IBM Support team through the HTTPS protocol.
- FTP the Logs to IBM Support (unencrypted). You'll need an PMR number to transfer the data to IBM. This sends the collected data to IBM Support team through the FTP protocol. This is a less secure option.
- FTP the Logs to a Different Location (unencrypted) This allows you to send the collected data to another location via FTP. You'll need to provide the target FTP location and appropriate authentication to access it.
- Do Not FTP the Logs. Do nothing.
Click OK to continue. If you choose options other than 4 above, you will need to fill in additional information required to complete the upload.
When the collector completes, the .zip file is created at the location specified in Output File name. You can use any unzip tool to extract the files to examine the content of collected data.
