Question
What is the support policy for the IBM Rational Method Composer Skins feature?
 
Cause
Starting with Rational Method Composer version 7.2, publish-time selection of skins is supported.
 
Answer
Rational Method Composer supports the skin capability within the tool itself -- such as the selection of what skin to use; however, the skins themselves are the equivalent of source code thus the customization of source code is not supported.
Skins are exposed to you as a means to have greater control over the degree of customization.
As such, you are able to use the APIs and manipulate the source code to meet your own needs.
These kinds of skin changes are unsupported (meaning support will not be able to provide assistance) and are therefore done so at your own risk.

Note: Rational engineering is supporting the capability of Rational Method Composer publishing to use a selected skin; however, the skins themselves are not supported.

Skins are dependent upon the release itself. As Rational Method Composer has additional releases, existing skins may be modified by Rational; therefore, you are responsible for determining the impact and mitigation to any changes that are made to the skins.
