Abstract
WebSphere® Application Server Community Edition Version 2.1 provides a new Web Tools Platform (WTP) server adapter which supports Version 1.1.0.x, Version 2.0.0.0 and Version 2.1.0.0 of WebSphere Application Server Community Edition servers.

The Eclipse WTP server adapter is a tool for deploying and testing Java™ Enterprise Edition 5 (Java EE 5) and J2EE1.4 assets to a WebSphere Application Server Community Edition server.

WTP server adapter V2.1 is a major release, which includes bug fixes and enhancements for reliability and usability. It is based on Eclipse Europa (Eclipse 3.3) and WTP2.0. You can use the Eclipse Update Manager to install the Eclipse WTP server adapter from the Eclipse Update Site for IBM WebSphere Applicaton Server Community Edition.

WTP server adapter V2.1 has undergone a major architectural change in its model framework. The change is migration from Eclipse Modelling Framework (EMF) to Java Architecture on XML Binding (JAXB). This was done to improve and enhance Deployment Plan Editors. It also paves a platform for intelligent editors to come out in the future releases.

The WTP server adapter V2.1 occupies only 5MB disk space. In the previous versions, it used to occupy 13MB approximately. This is one of the significant improvements made to the current version of the WTP server adapter.
