Error description

  • When using DBCS characters in the "message" of
    the trace primitive,it is corrupt in case of "User Trace"
    destination or "File" destination.  The DBCS characers are
    displayed (logged) correctly with default "Local Server Log"
    destination.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using the Trace Mediation          *

    *                      present in the message User trace and   *
    *                      File trace show these characters as     *
    *                      corrupt.                                *

    * RECOMMENDATION: If you encounter this problem then you are   *
    *                 advised to install the code fix associated   *
    *                 with this APAR.                              *

    DBCS characters were not handled correctly when using the
    Trace mediation primitive and writing to the User Trace log
    file or a specified file.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been modified to support DBCS characters when
    writing to the User Trace log file or a specified file.
    
    There are no known side effects associated with this fix.
    There is no known alternative workaround should you encounter
    this problem.
    
    This code fix was targeted to be included in the following fix
    packs:
