ITCAM for SOA: Known limitations when upgrading to ITM 6.2.1

 Flash (Alert)

Abstract

ITCAM for SOA presents a series of limitations when interacting with an ITM 6.2.1 environment.

Content

ITCAM for SOA 7.1 Known Issues

SOA Domain Management Server / Tivoli Common Object Repository
  • ITM 6.2.1 introduced long situation names.

No workaround available. You must upgrade to ITCAM for SOA v7.1.1 for this additional support.

  • ITM 6.2.1 supports MSSQL 2005 and 2008, but ITCAM for SOA v7.1 SDMS supports only MSSQL 2000.

No workaround available. You must upgrade to ITCAM for SOA v7.1.1 for this additional support.
  • ITCAM for SOA 7.1 TCORE component is not compatible with the ITM 6.2.1 support for DB2 9.5.

The TCORE DB creation script fails on Windows (but not Linux/AIX because it checks for the DB version)

No workaround available. You must upgrade to ITCAM for SOA v7.1.1 for this additional support.

  • When updating to ITM 6.2.1, the SOA Domain Management Server Configuration Utility cannot detect the previous configuration in the TEPS environment. As a result there are no update options presented when you run the ConfigDMS utility:

    Workaround :

Windows only, changed the format of the entries in itmEwasRegistry.properties to use / instead of \\ before the ConfigDMS execution:

    1)
    cd <ITM_HOME>\CNPSJ\
Replace all '/' in itmEwasRegistry.properties file to '\\'

    2)
    cd <ITM_HOME>\CNPS\Products\KD4\bin
    ConfigDMS.bat

    Where:
<itm_home> is the location where the IBM Tivoli Monitoring product is installed.
<platform_name> is the Operating System specific directory created by IBM Tivoli Monitoring.

Use the <itm_home>/bin/cinfo -d command to determine the platform name for the cq product code. Note that the platform names might vary depending on the IBM Tivoli Monitoring level installed (6.1 or 6.2).

After the workaround is implemented the additional update options should be displayed in the ConfigDMS utility:

  • If you have ITCAM for SOA V6.1 installed and then upgrade to ITM 6.2.1 on a 64-bit Linux or AIX system, the setenv.sh script and the kd4ewas.properties files fail to operate properly, because the ITM 6.2.1 TEPS directory has changed, while these files still refer to the old ITM 6.1 directory paths.

Workaround: Manually update setenv.sh and kd4ewas.properties on <TEPS-home>/Products/KD4/tcore/bin/setenv.sh and modify the incorrect directory paths to point to the new location for ITM 6.2.1.

  • TCORE is not supported on DB2 9.5 (which is the version of DB2 shipped with ITM 6.2.1).

The TCORE DB creation script will fail on Windows (but not Linux/AIX because it checks for the DB version)
