Failure during installation of VideoCharger on AIX 5.3

 Flash (Alert)

Abstract
During the installation of DB2® Content Manager VideoCharger™ Server for AIX®, the configuration process may not complete successfully if any services containing the word "vip" already exist.

Content
The VideoCharger configuration process adds the following line to the /etc/services file:

vip  4324/tcp

When attempting to add this information, the configuration process first checks the /etc/services file for any previous entries that contain the word vip. If any such entries are found, the entry vip  4324/tcp is not added and the configuration process fails.

For example, if the entry vip remoteagent/tcp 3752 is in the /etc/services file, the process fails.

The solution is to add the VideoCharger vip service to the /etc/services file before starting the installation process. Follow this procedure:

1. If you have not yet tried to install the VideoCharger server, go to step 3. If you have already tried to install VideoCharger, perform the task in step 2.

2. Uninstall VideoCharger by running the following command:

    /usr/lpp/avs/_uninstVC/uninstall-vc

3. Edit the /etc/services file to add the following entry at the end of the file:

    vip  4324/tcp

4. Perform the VideoCharger installation process.
