Performing PTF Non-Default Installations

Problem(Abstract)
With each compiler PTF, there can be changes to how the Non-Default Installation (NDI) tool behaves. In general, the NDI tool version and the version of the compiler PTF to be installed should match. For example, NDI tool from PTF 1 should not be used to install PTF 2, and vice versa. Specifically, when a problem related to the NDI tool is fixed in a PTF, the NDI tool must be updated from the PTF fileset before using it to apply the actual compiler PTF to a non-default location.
 
Resolving the problem

Use these commands to check the NDI tool versions:


XL Fortran Enterprise Edition for AIX:
lslpp -l xlf.ndi

XL C Enterprise Edition for AIX:
lslpp -l vac.ndi

XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition for AIX:
lslpp -l vacpp.ndi


Before running the NDI tool to install a PTF, users must first update the NDI tool from the PTF fileset.

XL Fortran Enterprise Edition for AIX:
installp -aYgd ptf_images_location -e logfile xlf.ndi

XL C Enterprise Edition for AIX:
installp -aYgd ptf_images_location -e logfile vac.ndi

XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition for AIX:
installp -aYgd ptf_images_location -e logfile vacpp.ndi

After installing the applicable NDI PTF fileset, you can continue following the Installation Guide by running the NDI tool to install the compiler PTF at the desired locations.
