When an application running on Content Manager Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 or later (on a platform other than z/OS) stores content, the content will get stored in a “NULL” directory that will not be accessed in subsequence retrievals
|
| | | Abstract | Under certain circumstances, when an application running on Content Manager Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 or later (on a platform other than z/OS) is attempting to store content (e.g., emails, documents, jpegs, etc.) on a disk file system, the content may be stored in a “NULL” directory that will not be accessed when the application attempts to retrieve the content. The application will get a retrieval error which is the same as if it was attempting to retrieve content that had, in fact, never been stored. In addition, the Content Manager resource manager will report a ‘file_ not_ found’ error during migration or replication processing.
A fix for APAR IO10453 is available which prevents content from being stored in a Null directory, going forward . However, with regard to content that was stored to the “Null” directory prior to applying the fix, it will be necessary for you to copy such content from the “NULL” directory to the proper location under lbosdata . Should you need assistance with this copy process, please contact IBM Content Management Support. | | | | | | Content | Problem Description: When using Content Manager Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 or later on a platform other than z/OS, the content that you attempted to store to disk file system may have been stored in a “NULL” directory. When the application attempts to retrieve the content, an error will be reported to the client that the content was not found. A similar error will be reported by the resource manager migration and replication processes. This condition occurs because the directory the content was stored on contains a “NULL” subdirectory in the path to the content. For example: /rmcontent/null/…… where /rmcontent is the volume mount point. In this condition, while retrieving the content, the resource manager will log the following error message in its log file.
ICMRM:RESPONSE 2009-04-13 17:30:10.215000 context: [WebContainer : 2] - statusCode:214 response:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="icmrm.xsl"?>
<icmrm version="8.4.01.100">
<order>retrieve</order>
<returncode>9709</returncode>
<returnmsg>FILE_NOT_FOUND</returnmsg>
</icmrm> Implications: Content sought will not be found and retrieved. When attempting to view the content, an error will be reported that the content was not found. The Content Manager resource manager migration and replication processes will report the source content cannot be found. Determining if you are or have been impacted: To find out if you are currently using Content Manager Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 or later , go to the Content Manager installation "bin" directory and execute the cmlevel command. If Content Manager Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 or later is installed, cmlevel command outputs 8.4 or higher, you may be impacted by this problem. For you to have experienced this problem, all of the following conditions must have occurred: You used Content Manager Enterprise Edition version 8.4 or later; and Your content was stored on disk file systems. A null subdirectory has been created by Content Manager in your storage volume and the content is located in the "NULL" subdirectory, ie /rmcontent/null/….. where /rmcontent is the volume mount point. Note: Check all of your CM mount points for a “NULL” file directory. Solution: For all impacted customers, you need upgrade to: Content Manager Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 or later get the fix for APAR IO10453. Copy the content stored in “NULL” subdirectory to “lbosdata” subdirectory.
