Abstract
IBM Solution Assembly Toolkit Version 3.1 contains a number of new and changed features and functions, including new deployment accelerator project wizards and support for the latest middleware and platforms.
 
Content
IBM Solution Assembly Toolkit is a framework designed to simplify the process of creating and deploying industry solutions. Using the IBM Solution Assembly Toolkit, you can provide a solution directly to end users as needed, without requiring further assistance for configuration or integration.


IBM Solution Assembly Toolkit Version 3.1 contains the following features and enhancements:

Enhancements to IBM WebSphere deployment accelerator project wizard

Several enhancements have been made to the WebSphere deployment accelerator project wizard, including the ability to do the following:

  • Target a profile other than the default, and create it if necessary
  • Target an application server other than the default, and create it if necessary
  • Map modules to a web server other than the default, and create it if necessary
  • Run custom Jacl or Jython scripts during deployment

Additional deployment accelerator project wizards

Several new deployment accelerator project wizards, developed to automate the deployment of specific application types, are available. They perform a role similar to the WebSphere application deployment accelerator project wizard. The new wizards are as follows:

  • Database deployment accelerator project wizard
  • Custom deployment accelerator project wizard
  • Lotus Domino deployment accelerator project wizard
  • PHP deployment accelerator project wizard

Support for the latest software platforms

The following changed or new deployment target platforms are supported:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.0
  • IBM i5/OS Version 6 Release 1
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10.0
  • Windows Server 2003 SP2

The following changed or new development platforms are supported:
  • Windows Vista

Other enhancements

Other enhancements enable you to do the following:

  • Specify operating system specific behavior and default values for variables in the application editor of the Express Runtime Developer
  • Specify preset validation rules for variables in the deployment accelerator project wizards
  • Select Ant as a special program type in the Custom deployment accelerator project wizard and application editor of the Express Runtime Developer
  • Generate a task file for any solution loaded in the deployment wizard
