Remote Management Agent (RMA) is a key component of the Retail Systems Management solution that offers retailers a way to manage their store hardware and software with a single solution. RMA enables retailers to monitor existing in-store devices from a central site location, and its standard based; open architecture design provides an interface to retail applications, and devices for systems management.
RMA provides the following capabilities:
Inventory management, identifying where systems are deployed and tracking hardware and software versions
Remote monitoring of the hardware and peripherals to help prevent hardware failures and outages
Software distribution, updating BIOS, firmware, security patches, and retail application
Power management, Shutdown, Restart, WOL, Suspend with a Scheduler
RMA is a solution for total store systems management and it is comprised of two major functional components; Agents and a Management Application.
Agents
The RMA Agents provide the framework for moving store systems inventory, events, configurations, updates, and monitoring data to management applications like IBM Director.
RMA V2 R2 consists of the following two Agents:
- RMA General Agent (GA) - Installed on the POS systems.
- RMA Master Agent (MA) - Installed on a single system in the store, like ISP

- IBM Anyplace Kiosk
- IBM Self-Checkout
Hardware requirements:
- The General Agent requires a minimum 1GHz processor with at least 70MB of free memory for a Windows environment and 40MB of free memory for a Linux environment.
- The Master Agent requires a minimum 1GHz processor with at least 1GB of system memory.

- RMA V2 R5 is supported on the following platforms:
- Windows 2003 Server with Server Pack (SP) 2
- Windows XP Professional with SP2
- Windows Vista Business with SP1
- Windows Embedded Point of Service (WePOS) Preload V1.1
- Microsoft Windows Embedded POSReady

Note: RMA V2 R5 Standard Security Master Agent supports communication with previous levels of RMA General Agents.
Management Application:
RMA V2 R5 includes the Retail Extensions for IBM Director Server 5.20.3, which provides the management of RMA Agents. These extensions allow seamless integration of the retail devices supported by the RMA with the powerful functions of IBM Director.

Download Description
This download is an ISO image of RMA V2 R5 that contains install packages for a RMA MA Enhanced Security and Standard Security mode, the RMA GA, the Retail Extensions for IBM Director Server 5.20.3, and importable RMA software distribution packages (.rspd files) for upgrading existing installations.
RMA V2 R5 Enhanced Security
RMA V2 R5 offers the ability to run the RMA Master Agent in Enhanced Security mode. When the RMA Master Agent is installed in Enhanced Security mode, a local Administrator user ID and password is required for authentication to complete the connection to the store devices. After installing the RMA Master Agent with Enhanced Security a new icon representing a secured or locked system will appear in the Director Console. To complete the connection to the Enhanced Secured Master Agent use the Director Enterprise Store Authorization Manager Task to enter an Administrator user ID and password to establish a secure connection.
The package also contains support for German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese
