PLEASE SEE README LINKS BELOW FOR IMPORTANT DETAILS
It is a simple process to install the package on a memory key. But first some important notes!
CAUTION: Be aware that if there is anything on the memory key, it will be
erased and it will be set up to be a bootable memory key.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If the memory key contains a protected area,
you may need to remove it prior to running the diagnostics install package.
A protected area on a key will prevent installation due to
lack of available space. A memory key of up to 4 GB in size can be
used for RSS Diagnostics installation
CAUTION: Following installation of the diagnostics package on a
memory key, the remaining free space is available for user files.
However, all memory key contents are deleted during the creation of
a partition in the installation process. Please save any
files you want to preserve to a secure place outside the memory key.
This also applies to subsequent package re-installations and
upgrades. Enhancements to media usage are being investigated for
inclusion in a future release.
Installing the Diagnostic Package on a Memory Key
- It is good practice to maintain a backup of the system on which you build
the memory key. For safety sake, you may want to run this installation
program on a machine whose data can be easily recovered.
- Download the Diagnostics file from the support website
- Execute file on a computer with Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 7 and follow the
-The program will tell you when it is finished.
- The installation process will tell you if there is insufficient space to install
the diagnostics on the memory key.

There are three different packages in this release. The packages provide the same diagnostic support. The difference is in how they are used.
One package is the traditional package that is to be used to install onto a USB memory key. This supports use of system diagnostic activities initiated by a person at the same location as the system under test. See the README file specifically for the diagnostic package to be installed on a USB memory key for a complete explanation of this package and its capabilities.
The second package is to be used to run diagnostics remotely. In this scenario, a person PXE boots the diagnostic image through a network on the system unit under test. There is no requirement for a person to be physically in front of the system. You should be aware that the diagnostic tests for some of the devices on the system under test are not as extensive as the locally attended diagnostic package. This is because some tests require local intervention to run the complete suite of tests. For example, pressing the keys on the keyboard is needed to run the complete keyboard test suite. As many diagnostic tests as can be possibly run in the remote and unattended mode will be run. The results of the diagnostic run will be returned to a system you identify.
The third package is to be used to run diagnostics from a CD or DVD. In this scenario, you may be prohibited by store policy to run diagnostics from a USB memory key. After you unzip the CD file, you have an ISO file for you to burn onto a CD or DVD and then boot the system under test with that media. This supports use of the RSS system diagnostic activities initiated by a person at the same location as the system under test. See the CD README file specifically for the diagnostic package to be installed on a CD or DVD for a complete explanation of this package and its capabilities.
One diagnostic package is used for all Toshiba POS offerings now. There are no longer one diagnostic package for POS offerings announced in 2012 or later and a different diagnostic package for POS offerings prior to 2012.
