IO19062: SUREPOS 4900-7X5, CX5 UNEXPECTANTLY POWERS BACK ON AFTER POWER OFF

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• RECREATE:
  - Power on a SurePOS 4900-745, 775, 785, C45, C85
  - At or between W555:030 and W555:03A power off the unit by
    pressing and releasing the power button.
  - The SurePOS 7x5, Cx5 unit appears to power off (both the green
    power LED and yellow drive activity LED go off.)
  - After 3 or 4 seconds, the unit powers itself back on and
    loads.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• When a 4900-7x5/Cx5 is powered off around W555:030, the
  controller appears to power off (both the green power LED and
  yellow drive activity LED go off). After 3 or 4 seconds, the
  4900-7x5 powers itself back on and loads.
  .
  The problem was caused because an ethernet setting (which set
  the Wake-On-LAN to wake up only with the Magic packet) is done
  late in the boot process allowing the system to wake up with any
  packet received by the ethernet card.
  

Problem conclusion

• To resolve the issue, code was added in the shut down scripts to
  set the property even if it was not on at booting time.
