IR47798: KB OFFLINE LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER SLEEP MODE

 

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • On a 4694 model 245 running Ethernet, the OFFLINE light
remains on after coming out of SLEEP mode.  When a key
is pressed, the terminal wakes up and will function
correctly, but the OFFLINE light remains on, and stays
on until the terminal is reloaded.
When running the Device Channel trace, it wil not fail
every time.  Without the trace active, it fails every
time.
Dump is L23, and Device Chanel trace is M01.

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • The keyboard was not responding to a reset from the
     APM driver.  As a result, the keyboard driver wasn't
     updating the lights reliably.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Hardware fixed the code which is loaded into the
     keyboard to respond to a reset.  This causes the code
     to be reloaded, causing a ROL which causes the driver
     to update the lights to the current state.
