IBM DB2 Content Manager connector configuration guide is incomplete

 Technote (FAQ)

Question
Errors are returned when testing the connection to IBM® DB2® Content Manager after configuring the connector according to the WebSphere® Informaton Integrator Content Edition information center.

Cause
"Configuring the IBM DB2 Content Manager connector" section of the WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition information center is incomplete.

Answer
Steps to complete should read as follows:
1. Install the WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition RMI proxy connector (using the option to install connectors only) on the DB2 Information Integrator for Content server or on the IBM DB2 Content Manager server.

2. Add the cmbsdk81.jar, cmbview81.jar and cmb81.jar files to the RMI proxy connector server's CLASSPATH statement by copying the files from the CMB_ROOT/lib directory into the IICE_HOME/lib directory, where CMB_ROOT is the IBM DB2 Content Manager installation directory and IICE_HOME is the WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition installation directory.

3. Add the db2java.zip file to the RMI proxy connector server's CLASSPATH statement by copying the files from the DB2_ROOT/java directory into the IICE_HOME/lib directory, where DB2_ROOT is the IBM DB2 Universal Database installation directory and IICE_HOME is the WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition installation directory.

4. Locate the cmbicmsrvs.ini and cmbicmenv.ini files and set the ICM Servers File and ICM Environment File properties. Typically, these INI files are on the IBM DB2 Content Manager server in the C:\Program Files\IBM\Cmgmt directory.

5. Set the connector properties by using the administration tool.
