This document answers the frequently asked question "What TSM product version does IBM recommend?"

Recommendations

  • Apply an interim fix only if it includes a needed fix for which no circumvention is available.
    An interim fix should be applied only if it includes a needed fix that is not available in the latest fix pack, and cannot use a workaround or wait until the next fix pack. Interim fixes receive much less testing than fix packs, so they are more risky to install and use in production. It is recommended to first test any interim fix on a test system before implementing it on a production system.
  • Same level roll-out
    If there is a requirement for the same level to be rolled out to all machines, then use the latest needed interim fix. However, such a strategy is strongly discouraged. As described above, it is recommended that interim fixes be applied only to those machines that require the interim fix. The latest fix pack should be applied to those machines that do not require an interim fix.
