Abstract
Information about how changes to Daylight Saving Time (DST) in 2007 could affect these products worldwide.

Content
A provision of the US Energy Policy Act of 2005 extends DST by four weeks, beginning in 2007. Several countries (Canada, Bermuda) are also implementing the same DST change; other countries might decide to make similar changes to DST rules. DST in 2007 begins the second Sunday in March (March 11) and ends the first Sunday in November (November 4). Systems or applications that process dates and times could be affected by this change. If not addressed, time and date calculations could be incorrect.
How do I know if my systems could be affected?
Your systems are likely to be affected by this change, even if you are operating outside of the US. Date and time processing functions in systems and applications in countries implementing the new DST rules (U.S., Canada, Bermuda) are affected. Systems and applications in countries not implementing the DST changes could be impacted if they support users, transactions or applications originating in countries which are implementing the new DST rules. For example, scheduling or synchronizing problems might arise where systems make or check date or time stamps relating to transactions in other countries, or there might be difficulty in scheduling meetings.

What will happen if I fail to update my systems?
Systems or applications that rely on date or time processing functions could make incorrect calculations. Calendar, scheduling, or synchronizing problems could arise where systems use date or time stamps, or if dates or times are processed or manipulated in any way. In short, if your system makes date or time calculations, you might experience calculation errors.

Windows®: Updating the time zone information in your IBM Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

Important: If you have already run the utility and updated the time zone information, complete only steps 10 and 11. These steps are mandatory for the workstation client component of the above products.

Requirement: Windows administrator rights

To run the utility and update the time zone information in your JRE on Windows, complete these steps:
  1. Create a directory, for example, C:\JTZU
  2. Download the zip file that contains the JTZU package according to your platform from this Web site:
    http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/dst/index.html
  3. Unpack the archive by using an unzip utility.
  4. Edit the file runjtzuenv.bat and set this environment variable:

    set JAVA_HOME=<installed java path>\jre

where <installed java path> is the directory that contains an installed Java to run the utility
  5. Start the file runjtzu.bat.
The IBM Java TimeZone Updater starts.
  6. Select Interactive Mode and click Start.

  7. Enter the Java installation directory that contains the program files of Performance Expert and the bundled JRE, then click Update.

Tip: The default installation directory is "C:\Program Files\IBM\<IBM program>\java 142\jre" where <IBM program> is one of these programs:

    IBM DB2 Performance Expert Client:
    "C:\Program Files\IBM\IBM DB2 Performance Expert V2\java142\jre\"

    IBM DB2 Performance Expert Agent:
    "C:\Program Files\IBM\IBM DB2 Performance Expert Agent V2\java142\jre\"

IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for DB2 Performance Expert Agent for DB2 Connect™ Monitoring:
"C:\Program Files\IBM\IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for DB2 Performance Expert Agent for DB2 Connect Monitoring V3\java142\jre\"

    The JRE is patched.
  8. Click OK.

  9. Repeat step 7 and 8 for each Java installation directory that contains a JRE that should be patched.
