This page describes the minimum product levels you should have installed before opening a problem report with the WebSphere Application Server support team. Because other products frequently ship fixes, updates, and new releases, we cannot test every possible configuration. In general, you can install and run with updates to supported products if those updates are forward compatible.

Note:

  • Application Client for WebSphere Application Server has been tested as a 32-bit application on a 32-bit kernel and on 64-bit machines booted with 64-bit kernels; however, 64-bit mode is not exploited.
  • Application Client for WebSphere Application Server ships only with the 32-bit WebSphere Application Server.

1 The Java 2 SDK supplied by WebSphere is required for both the run time and any remote Java clients.

2 Browsers enable viewing of the administrative console, Samples Gallery, and launchpad. Local and remote administration is supported. The Samples Gallery also supports local or remote use. The launchpad is limited to local use. Not all browsers are supported on all systems. There is neither restriction nor certification of Web browsers on clients that connect to the server to display content.

3 Required for installing the product.

4 Optional. Not supported on i5/OS version V5R3.

5 Because of dependencies with the Xerces implementation, non-IBM SDK users need to download Xerces-J version 2.6.2 and set it in the classpath before attempting to run the Web Services Thin Client.

6 The Web Services Thin Client has a dependency on the IBM Java Secure Socket Extension (JSSE2) provider. The Sun JDK prevents vendor-acquired JSSE providers from being plugged in, which causes SSL to not be supported with the Sun JDK or other non-IBM SDKs.
