Problem(Abstract)
IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Version 6.1 Feature Pack for Web Services provides installable product extensions to enhance Web Services functionality.
 
Resolving the problem
Under z/OS®, the WebSphere Application Server Version 6.1 Web Services Feature Pack is distributed as Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs) to the WebSphere Application Server Version 6.1 for z/OS Optional Materials (FMID JIWO610), which are installed using SMP/E.

Prerequisites
WebSphere Application Server version 6.1.0.9 or greater is required to use this Feature Pack.

If the Optional Materials function sysmod, JIWO610, is not already installed, install it following the directions in the WebSphere Application Server Version 6.1 for z/OS Program Directory. Determine the current Feature Pack for Web Services PTF numbers from the tables in the APAR/PTF Table for IBM WebSphere Application Server for z/OS V6.1 optional materials. For initial installation, you will need two PTFs:

- An "install support PTF" (UK26168) which contains additional Feature Pack for Web Services installation jobs
- A "product PTF" (UK26278) which contains the Feature Pack for Web Services product

Obtain these PTFs through normal service channels, or download them from the service Web page.
Install the PTFs using SMP/E, according to the instructions in the ACTION HOLD data in each PTF. See the Information Center (Feature Pack for Web Services for additional information, and for configuration instructions.


After the Feature Pack for Web Services has been installed, new levels of the Feature Pack are installed by applying a new level of the Feature Pack product PTF.

Note: The initial release of the WebSphere Application Server Version 6.1 Feature Pack for Web Services on z/OS requires two additional mandatory ++APARS: one with prerequisite service for the base WebSphere Application Server for z/OS product, and one with additional service for Feature Pack for Web Services. See Mandatory Web Services Feature Pack z/OS ++APARs for instructions to download these ++APARS, which must be installed before continuing with Feature Pack configuration and use under z/OS.
