Error description

  • When an object is cached with a inactivity timeout and the
cached object is obtained by another server the inactivity
timeout on the original server still exists and will
eventually cause the cached object to be invalidated.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
A cached object's timeout is not reset when a partner
application server (receiving) obtains the cached object from
the current "owner" application server (sending). When the
cache entry inactivity timeout fires on the sending
application server it invalidates and propagates the
inactivity timeout to all application servers in the
    replication domain.

Problem conclusion

  • A new custom property is being introduced,
    com.ibm.ws.cache.CacheConfig.invalidatePushPullGets. When
this custom property is defined and set to true a cache
invalidation is propagated by the receiving application server
to notify the other application servers that it is the current
    "owner" of the cache entry.

This custom property can be set as a JVM custom property and
affect all cache instances or can be set as a cache instance
custom property to affect a single cache instance.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 7.0.0.31, 8.0.0.8 and 8.5.5.2. Please refer to the
