Error description

  • For SSL java client configurations--

    When you are not using the file ssl.client.props
    (com.ibm.SSL.ConfigURL) and not specifying the
    com.ibm.SSL.ConfigURL parameter. The SSL client properties can
    be included in the sas.client.props.

    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v7r0/topic/com.ibm.web
    sphere.nd.multiplatform.doc/info/ae/ae/rsec_sslclientpropsfile.h
    tml

    From the Infocenter:
    Tip: Support for SSL properties is still specified in the
    sas.client.props and soap.client.props files. However, consider
    moving the SSL configurations to the ssl.client.props file,
    because this file is the new configuration model for client SSL.

    However the configuration does not work if only specified via
    sas.client.props and when using initialContext() environment.

    From logs:
    Exception=com.ibm.websphere.ssl.SSLException: CWPKI0315E: SSL
    configuration properties are null.

Local fix

  • Specify SSL properties using system properties instead.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Failure to read SSL configuration information when SSL
    information is set in the sas.client.props file if the file is
    passed into the initialContext() envrionment rather then set
    on a System property.

Problem conclusion

  • Read ssl information form the sas.client.props file when the
    file is set in the initialContext() environment.
