Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server administrative console. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An increasing amount of memory is used * * when a user repeatedly logs in and out * * of the adminstrative console. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The ValidationManagerRegistry code stores a hash table linking users workspaces to ValidationManager objects. When a user logs out, the ValidationManagerRegistry is not notified. When the user logs back in a new workspace is created. The administratrive console passes the new workspace to the ValidationManagerRegistry when requesting a ValidationManager. The ValidationManagerRegistry, not finding the new workspace in the hash table, creates a new ValidationManager. The previous ValidationManager which is associated with the previous workspace remains in the hash table.
Problem conclusion
The ValidationManagerRegistry code is updated to release the previous ValidationManager when a new workspace is received for the same user. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.47, 7.0.0.29, 8.0.0.6, and the fix pack following 8.5.0.2.
