APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Using the adminconsole, the control region adjunct can be
    enabled by navigating to JMS providers -> WebSphere MQ
    messaging provider and checking the check nox labeled "Enable
    JCA based inbound message delivery". However, once this check
    box is checked it cannot be unchecked.

Local fix

  • There are 2 different workarounds, number 2 is the easiest:

    1) Using the adminconsole, uncheck the box labeled "Enable JCA
    based
    inbound message delivery" and click OK. On the page that is
    then
    displayed, on the right hand pane click the link labeled "View
    administrative scripting command for last action". Copy the
    jython
    command there and modify the argument to enableInbound from
    'true' to
    'false'. For example on my recreate after modifying the
    argument the
    command looks like:

    AdminTask.manageWMQ('"WebSphere MQ Resource
    Adapter(cells/bcell1/nodes/bnode1/servers/server1|resources.xml#
    J2CResou
    rceAdapter_1347654748405)"', '[-nativePath -enableInbound false
    ]')

    Execute this command from wsadmin.sh -lang jython followed by:

    AdminConfig.save()

    This will uncheck the the check box and the adjunct will not
    start at
    next restart.

    2) Using the adminconsole, navigate to Servers -> Server Types
    ->
    Websphere application servers.

    Select the affected server, and then expand Messaging and select
    WebSphere MQ CRA settings. Uncheck the box labeled "Start CRA",
    click
    OK and save the changes. This will also uncheck the box labeled
    "Enable JCA based inbound message delivery".

    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    *                  Server V7.0, V8.0 and V8.5                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Once checked, the "Enable JCA based *
    * inbound message delivery" check box *
    *                      cannot be unchecked.                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The problem is caused by the code that reads the data posted
    when OK or Apply is clicked after unchecking the check box.
    The incorrect value is read and as a result, the check box can
    never be unchecked.

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR resolves the problem by reading the correct value
    for the check box to make it work correctly.

    APAR PM73919 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
    Level 7.0.0.29, 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2 of WebSphere Application
    Server.
