Closed as program error.
Error description
Applications with thousands of ejb-ref stanzas in web.xml may see significantly slower start times compared to prior versions of WebSphere Application Server. There may be no other symptoms, and the application will likely perform normally once started.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server with EJB 2.1 applications and large * * numbers of ejb references defined in * * web.xml * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Slow server start for applications * * with thousands of ejb-ref stanzas in * * web.xml * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Prior to WebSphere Application Server v7.0, the interfaces specified on the ejb-ref stanzas in web.xml were not loaded until they were first accessed. However, beginning with v7.0, in order to support some EJB 3.0 scenarios, these interface classes are now processed during application start. When there are a very large number of these ejb-ref stanzas in web.xml, this may significantly increase the number of class loads during application start, and thus may slow down server start.
Problem conclusion
For EJB 2.x and even many EJB 3.x scenarios that do not require these interfaces to be loaded during start, a change will be made to defer loading of these interface classes until they are first accessed. The behavior for EJB 2.1 applications will be the same as it was in v6.1. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.27, 8.0.0.6, 8.5.0.2.
