Error description

  • One of the jython script libraries designs are to provide
    customers
    script examples as the best practice for writing wsadmin scripts
    and
    customers can use them as sample script syntax to write their
    own
    custom scripts.

    Some of AdminApplication script library procedures have used
    DefaultApplication.ear as example application ear file to
    demonstrates
    customers how to write scripts to install application with
    different
    install tasks or options or update DefaultApplication to an
    existing
    application such as the following script procedures:

    - installAppModulesToSameServerWithMapModulesToServersOption
    - installAppModulesToDiffServersWithMapModulesToServersOption
    - installAppWithVariousTasksAndNonTasksOptions
    - addSingleModuleFileToAnAppWithUpdateCommand
    - updateSingleModuleFileToAnAppWithUpdateCommand
    ...
    - updateEntireAppToAnAppWithUpdateCommand

    We have put the note (Note: Use the DefaultApplication.ear as
    example
    application ear) on the script library code.

    ## Example 31 Updating entire application to a deployed
    application
    with update command ##
    def updateEntireAppToAnAppWithUpdateCommand( appName,
    fileContent,
    failonerror=AdminUtilities._BLANK_ ):
            if (failonerror==AdminUtilities._BLANK_):
                failonerror=AdminUtilities._FAIL_ON_ERROR_
            #endIf
            msgPrefix =
    "updateEntireAppToAnAppWithUpdateCommand("+`appName`+",
    "+`fileContent`+", "+`failonerror`+"): "

            try:

    #---------------------------------------------------------------
    -----
     # Set up globals
     #--------------------------------------------------------------
    ------
     global AdminApp

    #---------------------------------------------------------------
    -----
     # Update an entire application to a deployed application
                    # Note: Use the DefaultApplication.ear as
    example
    application ear

    #---------------------------------------------------------------
    -----
                    print
    "---------------------------------------------------------------
    "
     print " AdminApplication: Update the entire deployed
    application
    using update command"
                    print " Application name:       "+appName
                    print " File content:           "+fileContent
                    print " Usage:
    AdminApplication.updateEntireAppToAnAppWithUpdateCommand(\""+app
    Name+"\"
    ,
    nt " Return: If the command is successful, a value of 1 is
    returned. "
                    print
    "---------------------------------------------------------------
    "
                    print " "
                    print " "
    ...

Local fix

  • The customer can copy the script to other location such as

    c:\myJythonScript directory, modify the script and import it via
    -javaoption such as:

    wsadmin -lang jython -javaoption
    "-Dwsadmin.script.libraries=c:/myJythonScripts"

    To modify the script, the customer just needs to comment out the
    following line in the copied script:

    #opts += " -MapWebModToVH [['Default Application'
    'default_app.war,WEB-INF/web.xml' vh1]] "

    *                      WithUpdateCommand() script function     *
    * failed due to incorrect mapping of *
    * DefaultApplication to virtual host. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The following script library procedures have used
    DefaultApplication.ear as example application ear file to
    demonstrate how to write scripts to install or update an
    application. Users are not able to invoke the script
    procedures to install or update a custom application
    (non-DefaultApplication) directly.
    - installAppModulesToSameServerWithMapModulesToServersOption
    - installAppModulesToDiffServersWithMapModulesToServersOption
    - addSingleModuleFileToAnAppWithUpdateCommand
    - updateSingleModuleFileToAnAppWithUpdateCommand
    - updateEntireAppToAnAppWithUpdateCommand

Problem conclusion

  • Update AdminApplication script library to allow users to
    invoke script functions to update or install custom
    applications (other than DefaultApplication) directly.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.27, 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2. Please refer to the
