Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0, V8.0, and V8.5 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A java memory leak is seen with the * * leaking objects being * * com.ibm.ws.activity.remote.cos.CosActiv * * ityCoordImpl$CoordinatorProxyWrapper. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The WebSphere activity service is used by a number of high level services such as CScopes, Workarea and Activity Sessions. When one of these services is active on a thread and a remote call is made, then the leaking objects are added to a HashMap and HashTable with the Java and WebSphere ORB code. These objects were then never unregistered from these collections.
Problem conclusion
This APAR solves the problem by explicitly removing the CoordinatorProxyWrapper objects registered with the ORB. APAR PM64521 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs 7.0.0.25, 8.0.0.5, and 8.5.0.1 of WebSphere Application Server.
