APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a Centralized Installation Manager (CIM) job is submitted
    to upgrade a remote node using a domain account with UAC
    enabled on the Microsoft Windows target machine. CIM shuts
    down the nodeagent and server on the target machine to start
    the upgrade. When UpdateInstaller try to update the product,
    the job fails because UAC is enabled preventing the job from
    continuing. The nodeagent is not restarted and leaves the
    remote system in an unstable state. Remote node is no longer
    functional until manual restart occurs of nodeagent and server.
    

Local fix

  • Disable Windows UAC on the remote target and rerun the CIM job.
    or
    Rerun the CIM job using the true "Administrator" ID. Using the
    "Administrator" ID you can leave UAC enabled.

Problem conclusion

  • CIM was enhanced to detect the UAC status on the target
    machine and return prompt information before the stop node
    action when UAC is enabled.
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 7.0.0.27, 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2. Please refer to the
