Error description

  • Problem Description:
    -------------------
    Customer tried to extract QueueConnectionFactories from one cell
    and apply them to another cell using
    AdminTask.applyConfigProperties, which failed with the following
    exception:

    at
    com.ibm.websphere.management.configservice.ConfigServiceHelper.g
    etConfigDataType(ConfigServiceHelper.java:235)
    ------------

    The applyConfigProperties command failed because it was not able
    to create J2ConnectionFactory config object.
    The root cause is "ADMN0040E: The Connection Definition is not
    specified". The error is thrown from
    RAHelper.createConnectionFactory() API and
    it could not find the connection definition attribute from the
    resource adapter. Due to the error, the J2CConnectionFactory was
    not created and it caused the NullPointerException.

    Environment:
    -----------
    WebSphere Application Server: V7.0.0 and higher
    Operating System: distributed

    *                      QueueConnectionFactory definition from  *
    * one cell to another cell environment *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When you use wsadmin scripting to copy the
    QueueConnectionFactory(QCF) definition from one cell to
    another, a failure occurs while creating a QCF definition on
    the
    latter. The scripting client receives the following exception
    to
    indicate the failure.
    --------------------------------------------------------------
    Error=java.lang.NullPointerException
    at
    com.ibm.websphere.management.configservice.ConfigServiceHelper.g
    etConfigDataType(ConfigServiceHelper.java:235)
    ---------------------------------------------------------
    Also, the following error message will be logged on the server.
    "ADMN0040E: The Connection Definition is not specified"

Problem conclusion

  • There was an error in the code that reads the QCF definition
    from system templates to cause the failure. Through this APAR,
    the logic error has been fixed.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.25 & 8.0.0.5 & 8.5.0.1.  Please refer to the
