Error description

  • Race condition occurs when multiple wsadmin sessions are run
concurrently and leads to situation where two or more wasadmin
sessions use one workspace and cause incorrect output.

    ****************************************************************
There is a race condition generating unique session IDs when
multiple wsadmin processes are started at the same time. This
problem occurs rarely but is more likely to be encountered
when many wsadmin process are started simultaneously.
Two of the processes may use the same workspace session
resulting in failures in the script operation. The problem can
be detected by comparing logs from different wsadmin
processes and noting that two share the same session id.
Wsadmin generated session IDs start with the string "Script"
and are followed by a string of hexadecimal digits. They
    appear in workspace file paths.

Problem conclusion

  • The algorithm used by wsadmin to generate unique session IDs
is improved. In order for the new algorithm to be used a java
system property must be set in the wsadmin jvm. The property
    "com.ibm.websphere.management.configservice.sessionIdUniqueness"
should be set to the value "random". For example using the
    javaoption command switch:

    wsadmin -javaoption
    "-Dcom.ibm.websphere.management.configservice.sessionIdUniquenes
    s=random" ...
