Error description

  • Migration can fail if the environment is using a multiple TCPIP
stack, as migration will start on one stack and then fail if it
attempts to use an alternate stack. The reason for the failure
in not always obvious from the migration log. Setting the
environment variable _BPXK_SETIBMOPT_TRANSPORT will prevent this
failure. Adding a warning about this in the zMMT tool will alert
customers to this requirement. It is included in the
InfoCenter in topic Migrating a z/OS federated node, but
customers may not see it during their planning.

Local fix

  • Add the following command to the BBOWMG3F jcl
     export _BPXK_SETIBMOPT_TRANSPORT=<stack.name>

    ****************************************************************
Generated instructions from z/OS Migration Management Tool do
not include steps for specifying the TCP/IP stack needed when
    the machine contains multiple stacks.

Problem conclusion

  • The generated instructions now include a step for how to
handle multiple TCP/IP stacks and how to access further
    information in the information center.

APAR PM57859 is currently targeted for inclusion in
Fix Packs 8.0.0.4 and 8.5.0.1 of WebSphere Application
    Server.

Sysroute APAR PM64953 will be used to deliver this fix in
