APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The 64bit selection for WebSphere Application Server with
    WebSphere Business Modeler and the Feature Pack for
    XML install is not working for the second image installation,
    while one WebSphere Application Server with WebSphere Business
    Modeler and the Feature Pack for XML image is installed.

Local fix

  • Special note concerning the interim fix:

    This interim fix modifies data in Installation Manager itself.
    The fix does not need to modify files in the WebSphere
    Application Server directory (WAS_HOME). Since this fix only
    alters Installation Manager, the record of the fix installation
    does not show up in information displayed by the WSAS
    "versionInfo" command. The information will only show up in
    Installation Manager's "View Installed Products" information.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Second 64-bit Monitor install turns *
    *                      to 32-bit                               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The 64bit selection for WebSphere Application Server with
    WebSphere Business Modeler and the Feature Pack for XML
    NGI install is not working for the second image installation,
    while one image is installed.

Problem conclusion

  • When 64bits is selected for WebSphere Application Server V7.0
    with WebSphere Business Modeler V7.5.1 and the Feature Pack for
    XML install, Installation Manager will save the value to an
    offering data cache with the first offering id (order for
    offering is random), in some cases, when Installation
    Manager requires the value, it may use the second or third
    offering id to get the value, then the return is null.

    The solution is, if 64bit is selected, the value is saved to the
    profile level instead of the offering level. In this way,
    Installation Manager can get the value any time it is required.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.23. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
