Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When adding a module file to an * * application the following messages * * might be displayed in the * * SystemOut.log file: "Failed to create * * temporary file. A nested strategy will * * be used, but this usually slows * * performance dramatically." * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The problem occurs when you update an application using the WebSphere Application Server administrative console or wsadmin tool by adding a module file to an application. At a point near deployment completion the code was saving the application archive and then reopening it. On the reopen, an absolute file path was used when a relative path was expected. The problem has no functional impact, however deployment and startup time might be increased.
Problem conclusion
The problem was resolved by changing WebSphere Application Server code to avoid doing an unnecessary save and reopen of the archive. There is no workaround for this problem. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.23 and 8.0.0.3 Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
