Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    *                  Server JAX-WS provider applications.        *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A truncated error message may occur *
    * in the stack trace when an exception *
    *                      occurs in a JAX-WS provider.            *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fix pack that contains this *
    *                  APAR.                                       *
    ****************************************************************
    A truncated error message may occur in the stack trace when an
    exception occurs in a JAX-WS provider.
    Example:
    [9/2/11 9:44:29:528 CEST] 0000029f WebServiceExc E
    org.apache.axis2.jaxws.WebServiceExceptionLogger log A
    javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException throwable was caught.  The
    detail message is: ation descriptor for
    jaxwsNoWSDLProviderOperation

Problem conclusion

  • The original design was to remove the message completely,
    however this was done by searching for "at". When the
    exception description contains the string "at", a portion of
    the message remains. This logic was corrected, so that the
    message is completely removed.

    It is understood that the user may want the message present
    and so a JVM property was introduced to include the exception
    message in the trace. The JVM property is:
    com.ibm.ws.webservices.WebServiceExceptionLogger.includeExceptio
    n

    The default value is false, and it should be set to true if
    the message should appear in the stack trace.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.23 and 8.0.0.3. Please refer to the Recommended
    Updates page for delivery information:
