Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    *                  Server V7.0 and V8.0                        *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Decompression of the request body can *
    *                      fail with exception                     *
    *                      IllegalHttpBodyException.               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Decompression can fail when only a small amount of space is
    left in the buffers to be filled with body data. This causes
    the decompression variables to get out of sync when the rest
    of the body is written into a new buffer, and will cause a
    failure when decompressing the data.

Problem conclusion

  • Modified HTTP Channel code to work properly when a small
    amount of data is read.

    APAR PM47034 is currently targeted for inclusion in
    Fix Packs 7.0.0.23 and 8.0.0.3 of WebSphere Application
    Server.
