Error description

When creating a new server it is possible to experience a hang
in SSLSocketFactory.createSocket() if a port is requested
greater than port 65536.  This can occur if new ports are
requested (genUniquePorts set to true) and the template used to
create the server has a port value very close to 65536 or if the
system does not have any open ports.

Local fix

Ensure that ports are open for WAS to use.  Setting
genUniquePorts to false will create a server with the same ports
defined in the template.

A hang in SSLSocketFactory.createSocket() can occur if a port
is requested greater than port 65536.

Problem conclusion

The range of ports checked when genUniquePorts=true will now
end at 65535.

APAR PM46557 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.21 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0
and Fix Pack 8.0.0.2 of WebSphere Application Server V8.0.
