The property com.ibm.CORBA.EnableServerKeepAlive is used by
WebSphere to control the TCP/IP keep alive setting for
outbound IIOP connections.  The WebSphere code uses this value
to set the SO_KEEPALIVE socket option, however the code
incorrectly sets it to 0 regardless of whether the value is
true or false.  This is due to a problem with the way
WebSphere is setting SOL_SOCKET socket options.

Problem conclusion

WebSphere code was fixed to properly set SOL_SOCKET socket
options, which will cause the SO_KEEPALIVE socket option to
properly be set to 1 when com.ibm.CORBA.EnableServerKeepAlive
is set to true.

APAR PM46444 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 6.1.0.43 of WebSphere Application Server V6.1.0
and Fix Pack 8.0.0.2 of WebSphere Application Server V8.0.

The fix will also be delivered as sysrouted APAR PM49812 in
WebSphere Application Server V7.0 for z/OS.
